Shipping weight is 29.76 lbs. But, does not feel like close to 30 lbs. at all. Easy-Breezy tent.

Shipping weight says 11.57 lbs. I don't know who gave you the other answer but it can't weigh 28 lbs if the shipping weight is 11.57 lbs...

Our Scout Troop has about 10 of these. If you take good care of this tent and don't mind the weight, they have been very good. They have many guy lines that should be sufficient for wind and a heavy duty floor for rain. The high ceiling may make it difficult to retain heat for really cold weather, but that shouldn't effect the functionality of the tent. "Winter" can mean different things to different people. I think they would hold up well in light to moderate snow. Other factors of cold relate more to other gear such as sleeping bag and clothing.

you should probably research more tent choices,this tent is far from ideal in continuously bad weather,the quality of materials arent up to par with genuine backpacking tents.you should aim for a minimum of 1000mm rated polyurethane coated fabrics and aluminum poles.

this is a 3 season tent. great for rain. but cold and snow? no way. the entire top is mesh. the rainfly comes down almost to the ground but i dont expect it to hold in a lot of heat

not a good all season tent. the main part is all net the rainfly (orange part) just covers the netting. No "Patio" floor just bare ground if that makes a difference to you.

from the full rainfly to the almost full screening on the main tent to the screened vent and bathtub floor this is a great deal. plenty of room for you and your gear to stay out of the weather.

GREAT AND EASY UP

This was for a light backpacking trip. Much better quality than I expected and the fact that the rain fly created a little vestibule was a neat surprise. If anything I wish it was a little lighter but for the price and a short trip it was great. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Great tent

The Coleman Hooligan 3-person tent is the ONLY tent we buy for our Boy Scout Troop. For years now we have joked that this is the Official Troop Tent. We love how the rain fly goes all the way to the ground and that there is a vestibule at the front (a "front porch" we call it) to put your wet/dirty boots and gear before going into the tent. Just a great tent all around, even Boy Scouts can't destroy these things,we  only need to replace every few years and we go camping every month.

#1 Tent for Our Troop

I used this tent on my canoe trip down the Missouri River. My support team utilized it when they met up with me for resupply. Great tent with a Lot of room. Easy set up and held up very nice. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Easy set up with lots of room.

I bought this tent for my son who just moved up to Boy Scouts. We researched many tents online and he picked this one because of the large vestibule. Set up took a little longer than expected because of the rainfly. But he and his fellow scout got it set up and had plenty of room inside for their bags and gear. Tent is bulkier and heavier than expected. Not really a backpacking tent.

Nice tent for Boy Scouts

Relatively easy to set up. Vestibule great for keeping debris out of the living space. Well ventilated. Good headroom when getting ready for bed or getting up in the morning. Easy to pack.

Good tent for hiker, biker.

When I originally got this tent, a pole snapped during first set-up. Coleman was quick in replacing, which seemed great, until my first camping trip. Poles would not keep proper shape (they would bend inwards), no matter how I tried to rearrange. Just set it up again, and you can see how some arch and some seem straight. Very disappointed in the quality. (My apologies for sideways photos, but my phone was not cooperating)

This was spacious enough but those little fire ants are brutal and could get through the bottom of the tent. Also it holds up to about 40 mph gusts but higher than that on a flat plain did snap one pole. So great for light camping but not so much for a week and a half in the desert. But it still was usable for the whole time with all these mishaps.

Affordable but not desert ready

This is not a negative review - deficiencies must be reported to avoid buyer disappointment.

Tent is of acceptable quality for price - lives up to Coleman reputation. It is roomy enough for a queen size airbed (no more than 10" high or it will hit sloping sides of tent) and some gear with good headroom - very roomy for two persons with sleeping bags. Large single door opening. Vestibule opening is small and low - must crawl in. Without rain fly, tent is very well ventilated - appx 75% of tent body is mesh screen. Does NOT have any interior attachment points for lights or other accessories - this is a major deficiency. Heavy and bulky - around 12lb. Does NOT ventilate well with rain fly in place. Rain fly must be fully deployed or completely removed - NO partial coverage. Did not test waterproofing or wind resistance. SETUP is NOT quick or easy - many stakes and guy lines make for complicated and time consuming setup necessitating many adjustments (particularly due to vestibule) while attaching rain fly - rain fly is difficult to secure to poles by Velcro straps. Setup is labor intensive for a single 6' man - recommend 2 persons for 'easy' setup. Setup must follow strict procedure. Striking and repacking tent is awkward and laborious - particularly with packing the rain fly. Due to the vestibule and lines it has an excessively large footprint. Bright orange color is loud and disruptive.

This tent is best suited for weekend camping at prepared sites or for multiple day camps at primitive sites - due mostly to setup labor. It is not remotely acceptable for ANY type of backpacking for any distance. Good for cool weather couples camping or hunting trips. Would use confidently as general purpose shelter.
