Rated 5 out of 5 by from High Build Polyester Primer Polyester primer is the king. Easy to sand. You can get after it pretty hard without burn through. The best part is it does no shrink and crack like traditional high build primer. This is all I use now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good stuff. Amatuer here. I have tried a few different types of high build primer. This stuff is as good or better than the high priced brands. It is now my go to HB Primer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product you must use acetone to clean gun. You can get a reall good gun off amazon for about $50 "TCP Global Brand Professional New 2.5mm Hvlp Spray Gun". It will lay this stuff on perfect! I cant say enough good things about this primer!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best polyester primer I have ever used! I have been using this primer for five years now and it is by far my favorite. I have used at least four other brands and felt this was superior, especially for the price. This primer is touted as a direct to metal primer and acts as a sealer as well once it has been catalyzed. It saves many steps.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from my fav primer been shooting this sheit thru a 1.8 for 10years, back when it was made by mortons, now usc. iv shot over a half dozen filler types, bare steel, fiberglass, wood, & even abs plastic with no adhesion promoter & it sticks like glue to everything. not great shelf life as itll separate in can n be like hard playdough in a bucket of grey water. still da sheit tho

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Work saver This is great stuff. Very easy to apply and easily sanded. This covers extremely well and is absolutely High Build. This does go on a bit thick so you have to use the right tip but I love this stuff and you cant beat the price. The mix is simple and fast. I will be using this from now on. This layed down very nicely and reduced sanding.

I mixed up 16 oz., used a drill to mix well, new gun with 2.0 tip. Material sprayed fine but went on thick & speckled with tiny gobs (like sand) all over the panel, why? It sanded out fine. Can this be reduced to spray lighter as a final primer coat?

Asked by: rick
Look at the SDS to find a coating’s solvent. This one uses acetone, and I reduced it about 10% by vol with great results using PPG Acetone, not sure if USC has their own acetone but straight solvents like that isn’t usually a big deal going between brands.

Ideally, a 2.0mm or larger will be your best option.

This only comes in light gray, I want a dark base for my base color coat. What's the easiest way to go over this to give me a dark gray base? Would dark gray lacquer primer be acceptable as just I happen to have a gallon sitting around?

We can not guarantee compatibility with anything we do not sell. You would have to test a small area first.

What is the best method to measure out the catalyst in 1/2 or 1 ounce portions?

Asked by: Emargerum
I looked up on the internet figures as to how many drops are in an ounce, etc. As it works out, about 9 drops of catalyst to the ounce of material (closer to 9.25 actually, just get as close as you can). I've been using this method for mixing up 4, 5, 10 ounce portions etc, at a time and it's been working great.

The description says this can be used on bare aluminum! Yet at least 2 people have specifically asked about that here, both answers were to always use epoxy primer on aluminum first. So, which is it, can you or can't you? Maybe some factual consistency?

Asked by: rick
USC High Build Primer/Surfacer(50776ZP) is a high quality Direct to Metal(DTM) Primer Surfacer that has excellent adhesion properties and will work very well on bare Aluminum when the surface is prepared and cleaned properly. Go to www.eastwood.com and type in 50776ZP on the search bar. There you will see the product and its description.
