Good product at a reasonable price
I did a few hours discussing with my wife her needs/desires and doing research on stand mixers before settling on KitchenAid and this particular model. There are a few European brands that may be superior, but they cost considerably more then the $300 I paid. She wanted a mixer that is able to make various types of bread, so she needed the stability of a lift rather than tilt mixer. An old (1990-era) Hobart (before KitchenAid acquired them) would have been preferable, but those are getting hard to find. They don't build them as well as they used to. The color was a minor consideration, but it helped clinch her decision. KitchenAid Stand Mixer Benefits
KitchenAid mixers, though expensive, are very efficient tools. The machine can handle larger amounts of ingredients than a hand mixer can. The stand mixer makes quick and easy work of beating egg whites, mixing meringues or beating heavier doughs. Having a dough hook is also very helpful to first time bread bakers.

The best of the best mixers.
I have a 54 year old Kitchenaid that finally stopped working. I bought this one to use as I need a Kitchenaid every day and have used my old one just about every day for 54 years. only replaced the brushes once. This one is a little different but very pretty. I am so happy to have it. My old one looks like it has been in World War III. I saved it and will repair it when the parts are available. I have a 54 year old Kitchenaid that finally stopped working.
