Program

I don't know why it got bad reviews. It is my first scanner and I was able to program it manually in 30 minutes after opening it. You don't need a computer to program it. It came well packaged and everything was there. Having never dealt with scanners before, I found it extremely easy to program. If your not sure about something, there are a lot of YouTube videos on this particular scanner. If your looking for a. Scanner, I highly recommend you buy this one. You'll be glad you did.

Very good product

The programing is rather easy once you understand the process. You will need to purchase an adapter if you plan to program with a computer, but I was able to manually enter my frequencies. There are plenty of YouTube videos and website for reference.

Well Worth the Money!

There is nothing wrong with this scanner. Other reviewers didn't read the description close enough, or didn't know what they were buying. Yes, you need a computer to program it. It doesn't HAVE GPS, it SUPPORTS it. If you are new to scanners, do your due diligence. Cavat Empor.......

Reading Problems

Overall, this is a very good scanner. It is not a simple device like the ones from a long time ago - there is a definite learning curve. One of the reasons that it lost a star is that the user manual is terrible. Be prepared to look online for better sources of documentation. The other reason for losing a star is the included cable for connecting to a computer. This is 2018, not 1998, the vast majority of computers do not have db-9 serial ports. Most people who want to use the feature will have to get a USB to serial adapter. One other thing to note, when it is first powered on, the "Bear Tracker Alert" tone may be set to the highest volume, which is not controlled by the volume knob. Be prepared to be startled. Search youtube for "BCT15X Start Up" for info on fixing this.

Purchased on-line and returned to local WalMart 4 days after receipt.

Unit came with on interface cable and terrible user (on-line) manual. Cable connection was to be to unit and PC with the PC connection being for a serial port, which I thought was perhaps
outdated -- previous and current PCs did not have such a port.
Went to Best Buy for an adapter. They did not have it and did not know of a source, it was outdated. They weakly suggested Radio Shack. They did not have such an adapter. end
