The magnifier is lightweight, easy to hold and the lights are nice and bright on full illumination. I found that you have to be careful how you hold it and the distance from the page, so that it doesn't blur the print. I thought the lens would be glass, but it's not and that could be the reason for easy blurring. The one feature I felt was really lacking is the battery compartment. I actually had to use a hand-held magnifying glass to make out the polarity symbols in the compartment! And even then it was guesswork. Also, the cover to the battery compartment was very hard to remove, and arthritic hands will have a struggle removing it. Once the batteries were installed, it was equally difficult to get the compartment cover back on. The value of this item is okay given the price, but I wouldn't want to pay any higher a price for it. It's a good item for magnifying an entire page of a book and I am keeping the item.Read full review

The type on packages is getting smaller and my eyes are getting older, so I was looking for a good magnifier. This one is great. It's got 3 LED lights that provide good illumination. The handle is comfortable. The battery compartment was easy to open (the magnifier takes 1 AA battery, not provided). The thing I like best is that the area that provides greater magnification isn't set into the larger lens, but is set into the handle so it's not taking up any space on the larger magnification field. Now I can read the tiny "use by" dates and ingredient lists on food packages in the kitchen. I think I'm going to get another one for reading the fine print on supplement bottles. Come to think of it, I could use one in the car to read maps, too. (I know we all use GPS these days, but once in awhile I need to do it old-school and look at a paper map.)Read full review

I used this item 3-4 times; 2 of these times was testing it. The maximum total time I used it is probably up to one hour. Unfortunately, last night, when I turned the switch on, one of the 2 LED's started flickering. I turned the switch off and back on; the same thing happened. The third time I turned the switch off and back on, there was no light. I tried moving the batteries around, looking for a bad contact, to no avail. No need to replace the batteries since they were brand new. In my opinion, this item was defective. They might not all be as bad as mine, but the exception proved the "quality" of this product. The magnifying feature is pretty good if you keep the lamp on a flat surface, although is cheap plastic; do not except glass for these money.

I visit local antique shops regularly and need a good magnifying glass. I'm keeping this in the glove box of my car so it will always be handy. Here's what I like about it: It doesn't have a light. A light adds cost, size and weight and a cheap switch to possibly break. A car's glove box is a tough environment for a battery. It has a tough, rigid self storing case. It has to be slim and durable in it's case so that I can slip it into my pocket. The magnification is not too powerful. This one works best when held about 4 inches from what you're viewing. The entire thing is plastic, but it appears to be a tough durable plastic. I'll update the review if it breaks.

Fantastic magnifying glass, I bought it for doing small fine detail in artwork and for adult coloring. The handle is made of plastic and comfortable to hold while using. The magnifying glass itself is made from actual glass, not plastic, and has a very clear view with zero distortion. It magnifies as described and I've not had any issues with it at all. Because the magnifier is made from glass it is a bit on the heavy side as the glass is thicker to provide a higher magnification. It does a great job and I would recommend this for artists or colorists who may sometimes struggle with very fine details.
